Research theme

In Japan, the medical environment is changing due to the declining birthrate, aging of the population, changes in disease structure, and changes in people’s health consciousness. Nursing professionals who can respond to the healthcare needs of an increasingly complex and diverse society are needed. The Department of Fundamental Nursing aims to synthesize social, historical, and cultural knowledge affecting the healthcare of people with diverse backgrounds and to develop theory and evidence-based nursing technology that forms the basis of nursing practice as a practical science. Through the results of these research, we develop and educate high-caliber nursing practice skills for a scientific approach from both “medical” and “lifestyle” perspectives.

Our research Themes:

  1. Development of nursing education and educational systems using educational theories and concepts such as reflection, self-regulated learning and instructional design
  2. Development of educational materials and educational systems utilizing Mixed Reality (MR) and Virtual Reality (VR)
  3. Evaluation of physical functions such as swallowing function and development of nursing techniques using bioinformation analysis
  4. Analysis of health information to promote people’s health
